Institutional Review Board

Overview

The mission of the Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in research. As part of the broader Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK Human Subjects Protection Program, the IRB is guided by the institution’s Catholic and Franciscan values, the ethical principles outlined in the Belmont Report, and legal mandates outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 45, Part 46, and other statutory locations. The IRB is registered with the  and has received (FWA00026788). It is administratively located within the Office of Research Operations, Integrity & Compliance within the Research & Scholarship Administration of the Division of Academic Affairs. The IRB is financially and operationally supported by the Research & Scholarship Administration and directly reports to the Assistant Provost for Research & Scholarship on behalf of the Provost/Chief Academic Officer, who serves as the Institutional Official.

The IRB is committed to supporting the Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK research community by providing guidance, resources, and oversight to promote the highest ethical standards in research. Our goal is to foster a research environment that respects the dignity of all participants, ensuring that their rights are protected throughout the research process.

All research conducted at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK involving human subjects must be reviewed and approved by the IRB prior to the initiation of any investigation. The Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK IRB also provides continuous oversight of certain research projects for changes in protocol which may alter the investigational situation.

How to Proceed

All IRB protocols begin with an initial determination of whether the study falls under the IRB purview and, if so, what type of review is required. Applications should be submitted at least two months prior to submission of a grant or intended start date for recruitment of human subjects.
